The 3 shoes I bought were these ASICS Frequent Trail Running shoes, Columbia Fairbanks Low Sneaker, and these Adidas Terrex Ax3. I bought all in size 10.5, which is my normal sneaker size, and I tend to wear size 10 in hiking/work boots. I’ve bought 2 types of Adidas Terrex sneakers in the past - the CC Voyager in size 10.5, which was my absolute favorite shoe (but the most minimal), and the Tracerocker Trail Running shoe, which fit tight in the toe box area to the point where I probably should have returned them to get a size 11.
After a week of daily use on the farm, here is how these Ax3 trail running shoes compare to the above mentioned shoes. Much more rugged than the ASICS or Tracerockers, the least breathable compared to all the other shoes, good heavy duty tread, and the best cushioning between the heal and ankle. The toe box is almost too tight, but not nearly as much as the Tracerockers (but my toes really splay out so this might not be a concern for others). Also the poor breathability was kinda a bummer but it’s a bit of a trade off since these are the most “substantial” of all the shoes, making these a great choice for rugged trail hiking, or in my case, work on the farm. They don’t seem to have good arch support, but the sole is thick rubber, making them a good choice for when I’m doing construction and walking around nails/screws. Also there is extra protection around the outside footbed and a decent toecap - while not a composite or steel toe, this heavy rubber outer layer gives an extra bit of safety and I wouldn’t be too worried about dropping a moderately heavy object on my toes while wearing these shoes (think a log/concrete block/wooden post, etc).
All in all I’m very happy with these shoes, I just need to swap them out for another pair half way through the day to let my feet breath a bit.

When he wore out his first pair, he didn't hesitate to ask for the same shoe again for Christmas this year.
It's a great shoe and a decent price for the level of quality. He plays a LOT of disc golf so these shoes get a lot of use for the money.

Only downside is the laces and foot beds aren’t the greatest, I changed both out and work well now. Toe box is a bit tight also. 4 out of 5 stars.
